Every family has a bunch of words that were made up as the family, well, lived together in the same house for years and spoke. I like to think of these words as OUR family speak and if you know us, you can speak our language. If you don’t, then you can learn a new one. Enjoy.
Today’s word is Bed Bust
The kids watched a show called Phineas and Ferb where the older sister would try and bust the two younger boys when they came up with far out ideas that were dangerous or caused trouble as they lived out their summer vacation. As soon as she would call the mother to rat them out, all the inventions they built suddenly disappeared. Well, I adopted the bust frame of mind and started giving the kids busts instead of strikes, and the third bust was a bed bust which meant they were to go to bed right after supper, no dessert, no play, no outside, no screens. This rule is still in force today and works like a charm.
I still remember the day I busted a whole pile of boys at once for wrestling in the living room. They have yet to do it again;)
Feel free to share your family’s made up words. I would love to hear them.
